All founders of the American state as well as all major thinkers of American political thought have one thing in common, three sources of their thinking, which are all originally from Europe. There is the British liberalism, classical republicanism, and western Christianity, of which especially the protestant and reformed thinking had a big influence on American political thought. This work takes a closer look on the religious influence of American political thought and analyzes the thinking of John Winthrop and Roger Williams and how their works influenced American political thought.
